Conquering the Temptation to Abdicate

In Psalm 11, the Psalmist writes “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” The temptation to abdicate or fail to fulfill one’s responsibility as king is strong. For David, and for Jesus for that matter, it is not the way to go. The way to go is to God in his holy temple, and to persevere.
