I suppose that the reason that “glory” has behind its name the Hebrew word “Kabod” (which means heavy and weighty) is foremost to contrast that of sufferings that are heavy upon man. Where the glory of God is compared, Scripture tells us that sufferings are light. Substantiality is found in God, and his glory is in every way substantial and weighty.
To put it in opposite terms it may be helpful to picture that of Belshazzar in Daniel whose glory was found wanting. The word “Tekel” means to be weighed in the balances and found “light,” that is unsubstantial in terms of the rule of history.
