Pippa and the Singing Tree: Joining the Song of All Creation By Kristyn Getty, Illustrated by P. J. Lynch is a delightful new book published by Crossway. The ethos of the book is established by the author Kristyn Getty who is known for her music in the church already.
Additionally, the combination of beautiful illustrations of P.J. Lynch with the rhythmic prose of Kristyn Getty truly make readers like my wife and I feel the very song and story told as we read to our youngest child. For example:
The branches are swaying,
reaching out wide.
They’re welcoming Pippa
to a shelter inside.Crisscross and creak
Clapping along
Its arms are conducting
a chorus of song.
Such words really bring you into the story, makes you feel like you are there among the sounds, sights, smells of the narrative.
It’s poetry that conveys truth and inspires passionate praise to our God. When I saw this book come up for the opportunity to review, I jumped passed my usual selections of theology texts for this one and I was not disappointed.
The read is encouraged to follow Pippa through her day to know and feel and be inspired to add your own song to the chorus of creation! And rather than simply simply being on her own, she ends up with her dad and mom on each side, and her hand raised in discovery of what may be imagined her parents hopes for her to get God in such a way of praise!
