Yesterday I was watching an interview of Kristi Noem who recently was put in place of Homeland Security of our nation. She recounted of a story of putting up fences with her dad, and the importance of knowing what someone needs before they need it.
Now the comments here are important. Noem’s wisdom given her by her father is exceptional. It is exceptional because it points to one who knows what we need before we need it, and relates to how we truly win in life.
The Father knows what you need before you ask him (Matt 6) is not a call not to pray, but to pray with confidence that he has ready to give you everything you need at the moment you ask him for it. You will not find him responding ever to your request, “hold on, I didn’t think of that, let me go grab it.” Rather, he knows what you need before you ever need it.1
Noem’s father was on to something when he taught his daughter something about preparedness and responsibility. But it points to something much greater than any human could provide or think of, because utlimately the desire of Noem’s dad for his daughter to be prepared and have ready before he asks, is found in the Lord who does this perfectly.
In this way, I thank God for viewing that brief speech, which I hardly do in terms of TV watching of something mid-day. But I happened to be somewhere yesterday where it came on, I watched, listened, and I thanked God for the wisdom, and now reflect I hope in such a way that would make us so thankful for our Father in heaven.
May God bless the USA, and the leaders being put in place to depend on and do all things for his glory.
These are my thoughts that I had as I reflected over the lesson over this next day.
